New 'Sourcebook' details PC(USA) resources

by Alexa Smith

LOUISVILLE - Within the next three weeks, every Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation will receive a sample copy of a free catalogue that lists nearly all the resources of the denomination and of its validated mission partners.

More than 25,000 copies of the free "The Presbyterian Sourcebook" have been printed and are being shipped now.

Additional copies of the new book may be ordered through "Marketplace," the denomination's Web site for placing resource orders, or by phone (toll-free) at (800) 524-2612.

"This includes all the resources of the church - and not just at 100 Witherspoon," said Kathy Copas, coordinator of marketing in Congregational Ministries Publishing, noting that materials from validated mission groups such as the Medical Benevolence Foundation are also available.

"We are hoping that it is a 'keeper,'" Copas said of the new sourcebook, "something that people will keep on their desks and use throughout the year."

The denomination has long produced a curriculum catalogue every winter, but "The Presbyterian Sourcebook" is more. It offers prayer and study resources, liturgical calendars, stewardship aids - and much else.

"It is a new approach to service," Copas said. "We've got all the resources in place. ... We hope this is a real service to the church, and a resource that people will find helpful."
