SAINT LOUIS -- Colorado Springs will soon become the first
city in the country to serve as home to all three types of
retirement-living properties operated by the National
Benevolent Association.

"This marks an important milestone in the history of NBA,"
said Cindy Dougherty, NBA president. "For the first time
anywhere in the country, we've established a senior housing
triad to address a community's ever-increasing need for
retirement living options."

NBA Village at the Bluffs, a 51-unit property featuring
one-bedroom apartments for low-income older adults in the
Colorado Springs area, opened April 23. It is a
HUD-financed property developed in partnership with First
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Colorado Springs.

NBA Lifestyles of Colorado Springs opens May 8 with 112
one- and two-bedroom apartments designed for middle-income
adults 55 and older. Both properties are located just west
of the North Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs
intersection on American Drive.

NBA Village at Skyline, a retirement-living facility opened
in 1989, rounds out the NBA presence in Colorado Springs.
NBA Village at Skyline offers a variety of
independent-living, assisted-living and skilled-nursing
options for older adults in a comfortable retirement
setting across the street from Bear Creek Park.

A St. Louis-based nonprofit organization founded in 1887,
NBA serves more than 24,000 individuals annually through
more than 90 facilities and programs nationwide. Those
served include older adults, at-risk children and families,
and people with disabilities. For more information about
NBA, visit our Web site: www.nbacares.org.
