Walton Awards honor 3 new-church developments

COLUMBUS, OH - Three Presbyterian Church (USA) congregations have been chosen to receive Walton Awards as outstanding new-church developments for 2002.

They are:

* All Villages Presbyterian Church (Tropical Florida Presbytery, Synod of South Atlantic)

* Eastminster Presbyterian Church (Foothills Presbytery, Synod of South Atlantic)

* Monument Presbyterian Church (Western Colorado Presbytery, Synod of the Rocky Mountains)

Each of the winners receives a $50,000 grant endowed by Sam and Helen Walton, founders of Wal-Mart stores. The Mission Development Resources Committee made the selections and the General Assembly Council approved the awards on June 13. Candidates are nominated by their presbyteries.
