Mulder is honored during Outlook event

by Bill Lancaster

COLUMBUS, OH - The Presbyterian Outlook Foundation presented its Ernest Trice Thompson Award to the Rev. John Mark Mulder, president of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

Mulder was honored on June 15 during the foundation's annual dinner, held in conjunction with the 214th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Also during the event, the three candidates for Assembly moderator - the Rev. Arthur J. "Jerry" Tankersley, the Rev. Laird Stuart and the Rev. Fahed Abu-Akel, made five-minute speeches in support of their campaigns.

Robert Bullock, editor of The Outlook, paid tribute to Mulder for his contributions as seminary president, historian and church leader over 30 years of service to the PC(USA). He specifically cited Mulder's contribution as co-editor of the final volume of the award-winning Presbyterian Presence series, The Re-Forming Tradition: Presbyterians and Mainstream Protestantism, funded by the Lilly Endowment.

The award is named in honor of Ernest Trice Thompson, the founder and former board chairman of The Outlook, who co-edited the publication for 60 years.
