ABCUSA: Doris Wiseman, Retired Missionary, Dies

American Baptist News Service (7/8/02)--Doris M. Wiseman, retired American
Baptist International Ministries missionary in Zaire (now Democratic
Republic of Congo), died June 29. She was 86.
Wiseman was appointed to mission service in 1943 by the Woman's American
Baptist Foreign Mission Society. During her years in Zaire she served as
administrator of two schools in Vanga, supervised 27 regional and 400
village schools, taught and did evangelistic work. She also held
conferences for village women that included Bible study and training in
evangelism and leadership.
Later she was director of the School for Pastors' Wives in Kikongo and held
Bible study groups in her home for high school students.
Following retirement in 1981 she was an active member of the Bethlehem
Baptist Church in Lake Oswego, Oreg.
She is survived by a twin sister, Dorothy Wiseman, 141 Leonard St., Apt. 6,
Lake Oswego, OR 97034-3952 and a brother, Milton Wiseman, 444 Prescott Ave.
