American Baptist News Service (7/23/02)--To monitor progress and share news
and information about the 21st century transformation initiative of American
Baptist Churches USA, National Ministries has launched a NEW LIFE 2010 Web
site.

The site features reports--which will be updated periodically--of current
progress toward each of the initiative's goals. A page of links to related
American Baptist sites, along with links to other helpful Web sites,
provides a church planters' manual, resources for study guides, workbooks,
training seminars and more for church leaders. A special feedback page
offers the opportunity for American Baptists to share stories, questions and
concerns, as well as local church successes and progress reports, about the
journey to NEW LIFE.

Commenting on the launch, the Rev. Dr. Aidsand F. Wright-Riggins III,
National Ministries' executive director, said, "NEW LIFE 2010 reminds us of
our task--to be about changing lives, transforming others and ourselves for
Jesus Christ, and to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, so that we
may discern the will of God. The NEW LIFE vision to plant churches, reach
new disciples, vitalize caring ministries and transform congregations
continues to energize us."

NEW LIFE 2010 is a vision set forth in 1998 for American Baptists to reach
1,000,010 new disciples, plant 1,010 new churches, and vitalize a multitude
of caring ministries-and so transform American Baptist congregations by the
year 2010.
