American Baptist News Service (8/5/02)--Word has been received of the death
July 8 of the Rev. Frank T. Hoadley, a leader in American Baptist publishing
ministries.  He was 86.

Hoadley served for 23 years with Educational Ministries, joining the staff
in 1961 as book editor and later serving as editorial director and associate
executive director of the Division of Publishing.  For ten years prior to
his retirement in 1984 he was director of the Division of Publishing, where
he was responsible for Judson Press and curriculum promotion and
distribution.

Hoadley was the author of two books.  He was president of both the
Cooperative Publication Association and the Protestant Church Owned
Publishers Association and was a board member of the American Baptist
Historical Society.

Prior to his national work Hoadley served pastorates in Hartford, Conn.;
Bristol, Conn.; and Binghamton, N.Y.

Hoadley's first wife, Peg, died in 1997.  He is survived by his wife, Ruth,
and two sons, Jack and Ken.  Condolences may be sent to the family at 403
