Kienker takes World Relief post

Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod Housing Ministry Manager Marie Kienker has
been appointed director, LCMS World Relief and human care management, a
redesigned position.

Kienker succeeds Dr. Elaine Bryant, who retired Nov. 30, 2001, after serving
as director of LCMS World Relief since 1994.  But the position's
responsibilities have changed, due to a reorganization.

Kienker, who began work in the post Aug. 1, will oversee the day-to-day
operation of LCMS World Relief and Human Care, an alliance of the
long-related ministries of LCMS World Relief and the Synod's Board for Human
Care Ministries.  The ministries merged this spring.

Under the new structure, Executive Director Rev. Matthew Harrison will serve
as the "national public face" of LCMS World Relief and Human Care, giving
him many of the duties of the former LCMS World Relief director.

At present, Kienker also will continue management of LCMS Housing
Ministries.
