Synod Web site offers 'Giving Catalog'

The LCMS Foundation has announced that the new "Mission and Ministry Giving
Catalog" is now online at http://catalog.lcms.org/index.asp. Through the
catalog, individuals may learn about and make donations to six ministries of
the Synod and six LCMS districts by mail, phone or directly online.

More district and Synod activities will be added to the site in the coming
months.

Individuals may choose the activities they want to support by placing them
into an "offering basket." Then they may select the dollar amount of the
gift they wish to be given to that ministry. The catalog may be accessed
from the "Opportunities" link on the Synod's home page.

The Web site of LCMS Foundation at http://www.lfnd.org has been redesigned
and now incorporates "flash" movies. In addition to giving options, the
site provides information about the Foundation and the ministries it serves,
as well as reports on the performance and yield of Foundation funds. Some
older browsers may need to be upgraded to view the site.

The Synod's Commission on Worship has prepared worship resources for
congregations wishing to hold special observances to pray for our nation and
world in connection with the anniversary of last year's attacks on the World
Trade Center and Pentagon. These resources are available at
http://worship.lcms.org.

The Synod's Web site also features several new items that may be accessed at
http://www.lcms.org/whatsnew.html:

* documents presented at the Aug. 5-7 model theological convocation in
Scottsdale, Ariz.;

* nine new "FAQs" from the Church Information Center on topics ranging from
baptismal shells to fasting;

* the "Christian Cyclopedia," the Concordia Publishing House 2000 revision
of the "Lutheran Cyclopedia";

* the August issues of "Harvest News" and "Global Links and Good News from
the Field" from LCMS World Mission;

* portions of the August issue of "The Lutheran Witness" magazine, in PDF
format; and

* the "Synod Suspension Appeal Process."
