Historical Exhibition Opens at Taiwan's First Western Hospital
Taiwan Church News 2649, December 8, 2002
Translated and rewritten by David Alexander

Taiwan's first modern Western Medicine Hospital, Sinlau
Christian Hospital in Tainan City, has been in existence for 137
years.	Many people over those years have taken their first steps
in Christian faith in relation to the care they received from
Sinlau and its staff. Two years ago the hospital established the
Maxwell Medical Memorial Hall to honor its founder, Dr. James
Maxwell, who came to Taiwan from Scotland in 1865.
Since the memorial hall opened items have been donated for
exhibition from nearby towns. Vintage dental office equipment
from the 1930's and 1950's has been especially plentiful. These
and other items are on display in the clinic waiting room of the
hospital as testimony to the hospital and its past, and the
progress that has been made to date.
The exhibition will run until the end of December. All are
welcome to come and take a look.
