Synod to offer 'record number' of Servant Events in 2003

More than 80 Servant Events are already scheduled throughout The Lutheran
Church--Missouri Synod for this summer, "a record number," according to
Gretchen Jameson of LCMS District and Congregational Services--Youth
Ministry, which hosts the events.

"We anticipate exceeding the 2,200 participants from the summer of 2002,"
Jameson said.

Registration has already opened for a number of the 85 events, she said.

A complete list of the 2003 Servant Events, including registration forms,
has been sent to each Synod congregation. The list gives the location,
dates, ages of eligibility, registration fee, contact information and a
detailed description for each event.

To download the list from the Web, go to http://dcs.lcms.org/youth, click on
"Servant Events," then go to the section titled "Be A Servant for Jesus'
Sake."	The list also is available by calling the youth ministry office at
(800) 248-1930, Ext. 1155.

Included in the list is this year's international Servant Event, July 7-21
in Germany.

Local hosts for Servant Events include LCMS districts, congregations,
schools, universities, camps and social-service agencies.

Since LCMS Youth Ministry began the Servant Events program in 1981, some
30,000 youth and adults have participated at more than 800 sites in the
United States and nine other countries.
