ACNS 3278 | ACNS SPECIAL REPORT | 24 JANUARY 2003

Concerning the Enthronement of the Archbishop of Canterbury

It has been brought to our attention by the BBC religion staff members that
if local television broadcasters around the Communion (especially
non-Commonwealth countries) are interested in airing the enthronement
service, or obtaining news clips, that there is an office to deal with such
requests.

It is important that the approach be:

1 Local churches and interested persons should contact their national,
regional or local broadcasters, not the BBC, to ask that the telecast of the
enthronement be offered by their station or network.

2 In turn the broadcasters should contact Peter James, Manager, BBC
International Unit. His email address is: peter.james@bbc.co.uk

3 Broadcast news departments have their regular sources for news clips but
if they are unable to obtain clips from their usual sources they may contact
Peter James at BBC International for help/advice.

N.B. Individual churches and groups should not contact the BBC directly but
should do it through their local broadcast or news contacts.
Local newspapers could also be encouraged to use photos from the occasion in
the local press. The world media will be present and there will be pooled
photos available through PA (Press Association UK) and Reuters (for
subscribers), as well as free-use photos on ACNS.

If you have any questions about these arrangements please contact our
office.

It is also our express desire to have a professional video available for
purchase as soon as possible after the service. To make this happen we need
500 minimum pre-reserved orders for copies. If you wish to place an order
please send an email to matthew.davies@anglicancommunion.org. The
manufacturing costs are very high. The videos would sell for min #15 / US$20
in PAL or NTSC.

A special extended issue of Anglican World will also be made available
covering the celebration of Archbishop Rowan's new ministry and there may be
other provisions such as a radio broadcast or webcast(s) that may be
accessed through the Internet. Please watch ACNS for further announcements.

Please remember to keep Archbishop Rowan and his family in your prayers as
he approaches this great celebration.

January 26 has been designated a day of prayer for the Archbishop of
Canterbury in the Anglican Cycle of Prayer (See ACNS3274).

Thank you.
