Site has hymn texts, for new LCMS hymnal

A new Web site, http://worship.lcms.org/hymns/index.asp, gives 451 hymn 
texts proposed so far for the Synod's new hymnal and invites comments on 
the texts.

All those hymns are from the Synod's current hymnals: "The Lutheran 
Hymnal," "Lutheran Worship" and "Hymnal Supplement 98."

The site, prepared by the LCMS Commission on Worship, also includes a 
downloadable PDF file that provides annotated versions of the texts and the 
rationale for any changes to the 451 hymns proposed so far by the Hymnody 
Committee for the new hymnal.

For comments, a response form is at the bottom of each hymn text.

A message on the Web site explains that the commission is aiming for about 
600 hymns to be included in the new book.

The hymnal is scheduled for publication in 2006, following approval by the 
2004 Synod convention.
