New documentary on St. Francis of Assisi 
to air Palm Sunday

Prime time telecast will be on Hallmark Channel

LOUISVILLE - A one-hour special on the life of St. Francis of Assisi - one of
the best known, most loved and least understood figures in religious history
- will be telecast on the Hallmark Channel on Palm Sunday, April 13, at 7:00
p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
	
Filmed on location in central Italy, "Reluctant Saint: Francis of Assisi" is
based on the acclaimed 2002 book by Donald Spoto, Reluctant Saint: The Life
of Francis of Assisi. It was produced by Emmy Award-winner Pamela Mason
Wagner and narrated by actor Live Schreiber.
	
"Most people have never heard the story of how Francis the person became
Francis the saint," said Spoto. The son of a wealthy 12th century merchant,
Francis was a leader of the pleasure-seeking youth of his town until he was
captured and held as a prisoner of war by a neighboring city-state. It was
while in prison that he began the spiritual transformation that led him to
renounce his inheritance and all the pleasures the world had to offer. By the
end of his life, Francis had arrived at a vision of peace and human
fulfillment that has inspired countless millions of followers in the
centuries since his death.	  
	
"Reluctant Saint: Francis of Assisi" was produced by Lightworks and West Egg
Studios for Faith and Values Media, the nation's largest coalition of Jewish
and Christian faith groups dedicated to media production, distribution and
promotion.
