New Church Ministry 'Fuels the Torch' for New-Church Planters
Nearly 70 leaders representing 26 Disciples regions left a Las Vegas
seminar challenged to have "a passion of cosmic proportion" and equipped
with new resources designed to help them support robust church growth
among new Disciples congregations.

Denise Bell, a coach to new-church planters and a pastor of a
congregation that helped start a fast-growing new church in Memphis,
Tenn., challenged those gathered to lead the Disciples in change that
accommodates new-church growth.

Two Disciples Students Appointed to Serve on Campus Leadership Team
Two students at Disciples universities have been selected to serve on
the leadership team of the Student Ecumenical Partnership (STEP), the
national network of Disciples college students managed by the Division
of Higher Education and its ecumenical partner in the United Church of
Christ. 

The STEP Leadership Team represents Disciples and UCC college students
at ecumenical events and networks with students from across the country,
creating a place and voice within the church. Full story:

Reconciliation Mission Grants $45,000 to Eradicate Racism
Three Disciples ministries have received more than $45,000 in grants
from the Reconciliation Mission to accomplish important aspects of their
mission to eradicate racism in church and society. The funds were
approved during a recent meeting of the Reconciliation Mission's

Global Ministries to Host Human Rights Delegation from Columbia
Global Ministries, a common witness of the Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ) and the United Church of Christ, will host a human rights
delegation from Colombia at a luncheon on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 from
noon - 1 p.m. at the Disciples Center, 130 E. Washington St.,
Indianapolis, Ind.    

The delegates will speak about their experiences in civil war-torn
Columbia and are available by appointment for personal media interviews.
