One hundred and fifty parishes celebrate overseas links at Canterbury
Cathedral

On Saturday 22nd March 2003, all the parishes in the Diocese of Canterbury
have been invited to the Cathedral for a day to celebrate links with
Christians overseas, especially in the Third World. Each Deanery (a group of
about a dozen parishes) will have its own display in the Nave of the
Cathedral; many individual parishes will also be showing their own links
with Christians across the globe. There will be other displays showing the
Diocese's links with European countries and particularly Madagascar, with
which the Diocese has had a link for many years. Canon Mark Oxbrow of the
Church Mission Society will give a talk by at 10:10am in the International
Study Centre in the Cathedral Precincts; there will also be speakers from
overseas parishes that provide the other side of a link.

The day will begin at 9:30am in the International Study Centre in the
Precincts with coffee and group discussions will be held from 11:30am. An
Agape (New Testament style sharing of bread) will be held in the Nave of the
Cathedral at 12:30pm. Everyone is very welcome to attend all or part of the
day and people coming to the event will not be charged for entry. People
should bring their own lunch but free drinks will be provided. The day will
end with sung Evensong at 3:15pm in the Cathedral Quire.
