Reformed churches preparing for 2004 world gathering in Ghana

by Jerry L. Van Marter

LOUISVILLE - The World Alliance of Reformed Churches (WARC), the global
organization of Presbyterian and Reformed churches, has produced a number of
resources in preparation for the Alliance's 24th General Council in Accra,
Ghana, from July 30 through Aug. 14, 2004.

The resources are available at the organization's Web site,
http://warc.ch/24gc/index.html. Printed copies are available in bulk.

They include:

Crossing Ten Seas - a magazine about 14 studies from around the world on
issues related to the theme of the upcoming Council, "That All May Have Life
in Fullness." Each tells a story, offers a theological reflection and poses
questions for discussion.

Fourteen Christian education outlines on issues important to Reformed
churches today, with scriptures for study, discussion questions, activities
and action plans. The outlines can be adapted for groups of various ages,
from 4-year-olds to adults.

Information on the Stewards' Program for the 24th General Council. The
stewards' program, for young people between 18 and 30 years old who are
members of WARC churches, will start one week before the Council convenes.
Fifty-five stewards will be chosen. The deadline for applications is May 31,
2003.
