GLENSIDE, PA - Bette E. Landman, Arcadia University's president since 1985,
has announced that she will retire in June 2004. A search for her successor
has been launched; school officials hope to name a new president by next
February. Landman joined the university in 1972 as an assistant professor of
sociology.
ALMA, MI - Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity, spoke during the
March 5 kick-off of Discovering Vocation: The Lilly Project at Alma College.
Fuller told more than 350 students, faculty and others how he and his wife,
Linda, left a comfortable life to seek God's call. Discovering Vocation
encourages students and faculty to explore the concept of vocation and find a
purpose in life.
DECATUR, IL - NBC-TV analyst Steven Emerson, an expert on militant Islamic
terrorism and a consultant to government agencies, will present the 2003 T.W.
Samuels Lecture at Millikin University on April 16 at 8 p.m.
SAN ANTONIO, TX - Richard E. Smalley, winner of the 1996 Nobel Prize for
chemistry, will present a lecture at 7:30 p.m. on April 16 at Trinity
University. Smalley, a professor of chemistry and physics at Rice University,
will speak about his research in nanotechnology and its implications in
materials science and computing.
