The lay training institute of Taiwan Theological College, an
agency of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) invited the
Rev. Dr. John McCall,
director of the college's Center for Spiritual Formation, to lead
a seminar on Passion week for over 100 PCT members in advance of
Palm Sunday.
Dr. McCall used iconography, prayer, scripture and other
materials
related to suffering and resurrection to help expand
participants' experience of Holy Week.	He asked them to focus on
the pains that Jesus endured to bring redemption to this world,
and what it would mean for them to forsake their own lives as
Christ did his.
After study and reflection in small groups or alone, everyone
gathered in the college chapel. Several icons and lamps were
arranged on the platform, chosen to depict both the suffering and
the glory of Christ. One participant testified that the
combination of word, music, display and reflection produced a
deep impression of the love of God.
