Partnership Consultation Conference on HIV/AIDS in Africa

A unique conference on HIV/AIDS which brings together the international donor
agencies, the faith based organisations and other high profiled actors from
all over Africa, starts in Nairobi on Wednesday May 7th, at Grand Regency
hotel.

The conference hosted by All Africa Conference of Churches, is sponsored by
the World Council of Churches, World Conference on Religion and Peace (WCRP)
and Caritas International.

The Minister for Health, Hon Charity Ngilu is expected to formally open the
conference.

The conference seeks to determine a mechanism for coordinated approach to the
war against HIV/AIDS in a manner that would result in effective impact as
well
as effective use of the Global Fund for HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Participating organisations will include World Bank (Washington DC) UNICEF,
UNAIDS, World Health Organisation, European Union, NGOs and faith based
organisation.

Of interest will be a presentation by Children Message from Children AIDS
Orphans, in a continent without adequate orphanages, has become an issue of
major concern coupled with an increasing number of child-headed households
because of the impact of HIV/AIDS on families.

The conference is also hoped to build partnership models.
