LOUISVILLE - The Presbyterian Historical Society (PHS) is seeking nominations

history.

July 1 is the deadline for submissions for the 2003 awards. Winners will be
recognized during the society's annual meeting in the fall.

The four awards are:

The Francis Makemie Award for the best book on American Presbyterian and
Reformed history. The PHS awards a certificate and $500.

The Robert Lee Stowe Award for the best historical study of an American
Presbyterian or Reformed congregation. The winner receives a certificate and
$250.

The Woodrow Wilson Award for the best scholarly article on American
Presbyterian or Reformed history. The prize is $100 plus a certificate.

The Patricia Ann Burrus Spaulding Award for the best scholarly historical
article on an American Presbyterian or Reformed woman or women. The winner
gets a certificate and $200.

Titles for consideration must have publication dates of 2001, 2002 or 2003.

publication in 2003 may be submitted in page proofs.

Submissions should normally be in English. By "American," the society means
