Dragon Boat Festival is one of the three biggest traditional
holidays on Taiwan's lunar calendar. It was celebrated on June
5th this year.	A neighborhood development association in
Yungkang City of Tainan County held a cultural arts festival in
the courts of a local Emperor of Heaven temple on June 1st.
Members of Iam-hang Presbyterian Church participated, presenting
an outdoor musical evangelistic program. They estimated that over
1,000 people attended.
The church's White Egret Music Team, directed by Rev. Song
Sin-hi, opened the program with several songs interspersed with
commentary. It was the first time for the group to perform
"outside of the church walls."	Mr. Song followed the singing
with an address pointing out the need for goals in life and love
in families.
According to Mr. Song, the church has many youth with musical
talent. Over the past four years these have been organized to
perform at events to encourage people to sign organ donor cards.
Early this year they decided to expand their reach and perform
for the wider public. When the community festival was planned
they volunteered to give their first concert in a temple.
Rehearsals lasted 2 months.
In August the group will perform four times at different
venues in Tainan City and County. Their evangelistic message
will accompany the appeal for organ donations and will include a
strong "love of life" message.	Rev. Song says, "This is the
great work of Iam-hang church during 2003."
