ST. PAUL, MN - Brian C. Rosenberg, 47, a dean at Lawrence University in
Appleton, WI, has been named the 16th president of Macalester College,
succeeding Michael S. McPherson. Rosenberg earned master's and doctoral
degrees in English from Columbia University in New York.

MONTREAT, NC - John S. Lindberg, an executive vice president of
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA, has been appointed
the sixth president of Montreat College, succeeding William W. Hurt. Lindberg
has a M.Div. degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH, and has
studied at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago and at Harvard
University's School of Education in Cambridge, MA.

TULSA, OK - Jon Novotny, a computer science and philosophy major at the
University of Tulsa, is one of 76 college juniors chosen to receive Truman
Scholarships for 2003. The scholarships are for students who plan careers in
public service. Each winner receives up to $30,000 for his or her senior year
and $27,000 over three years for graduate studies.

LAURINBURG, NC - St. Andrews Presbyterian College is one of 20 colleges out
of 242 schools in the mid-Atlantic region deemed "hidden gems" by Washington
Post education reporter Jay Mathews in April. St. Andrews also is featured in

EASTON, PA - Lafayette College started a $22 million renovation and
modernization of Skillman Library in March. The project, which includes a
27,000-square-foot expansion, is scheduled for completion in the fall of
2004.

DANVILLE, KY - Stephanie Casey, a recent graduate of Centre College, has
organized a Reach Out and Help program that provides books to disadvantaged
children in Kentucky. Casey, a native of Knoxville, TN, started the
campus-wide program as part of her independent study in community psychology.
