New Dean of Gibraltar announced

[ACNS source: Diocese in Europe] Canon Alan Woods, Chancellor and Senior
Chaplain of the Pro-Cathedral of St Paul Valletta is to be the new Dean of
Gibraltar, it was announced yesterday, Trinity Sunday, in Gibraltar
Cathedral.

Canon Woods has had a distinguished and much appreciated ministry in Malta
since 1996, when he moved there from having been vicar of Calne in Wiltshire
(Salisbury Diocese).

"I know he will bring many pastoral gifts to Gibraltar and the Cathedral and
also contribute as Dean to the wider ministry of the Diocese," said the
Bishop of Gibraltar in Europe, the Rt Revd Geoffrey Rowell.

Canon Woods will take up his post in December and the provisional date for
his installation is Saturday 13 December. He is aged 60, and married to
Barbara.
