Truth Hall, a congregation of the Taiwan Lutheran Church
located across the road from National Taiwan University in
Taipei, will begin a high cost, high profile reconstruction plan
at the end of June, 2003. The project, priced at 500 million
Taiwan Yuan (12.5 million Euros, 14.5 million US Dollars) will
produce a structure with 2 underground and 10 above ground floors
on the current church site. Its scheduled completion date is
August of 2005.
The church was established 50 years ago, and since 1971 has
ministered to the university and surrounding community from its
unique vine-covered facilities. In recent years the building has
become	inadequate for the congregation's needs. The church's
board decided on a complete rebuild, and the church as a whole
supports the project.
A groundbreaking ceremony has already been held, and many
people are visiting for the "last minute memorial photographs"
prior to the old building's demise.
The planned new facility will seat 4,000 and have room for
worship, prayer, education and a host of social service
ministries. The design includes a tower as high and splendid as
the University sports arena across the road.
During the two years of destruction and construction the
congregation will move its worship education and administrative
functions to nearby schools and churches.
