	Indiana District elects
	Daniel May president

	Rev. Daniel May of Lafayette, Ind., was elected on the second
ballot as the new president of the LCMS Indiana District during the June
19-20 district convention in Fort Wayne.

	May, a 1970 graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary,
Springfield, Ill., succeeds Rev. Timothy Sims, who retired as district
president. May had been the districts second vice president since 1993.

	Delegates also elected Rev. Ralph Blomenberg of Seymour, first
vice president; Rev. Mark Pflughoeft, Lowell, second vice president;
Rev. David Mommens, Columbia City, third vice president; and Rev. John
Fiene, Zionsville, fourth vice president.

	Among adopted resolutions was one that encourages participation
in Ablaze, the Synods initiative to share the Gospel with 100 million
unreached or uncommitted people by 2017. The resolution encourages
members in the district to be active individually in outreach.

	Delegates also passed a resolution to continue and expand
cross-cultural outreach in the district and committed the convention
offering for such outreach.

	They also adopted a resolution to enable the Indiana district
president to serve as a part-time parish pastor. The resolution asks the
district board of directors to study the ramifications of having a
part-time president. The Indiana presidency is currently a full-time
position.
