	Ohio re-elects Bergen to top post

	Rev. Ronald Bergen was re-elected to his third term as president
of the Ohio District during the district's convention, June 19-21 in
Dublin, a suburb of Columbus. Bergen was elected on the second ballot.

	Also elected were:

	* Rev. Terry Cripe, Defiance, Ohio, first vice president;

	* Dr. John Davidson, Lancaster, Ohio, second vice president; and

	* Rev. Jeffrey Stephens, Shaker Heights, Ohio, third vice
president.

	Under the theme "Reclaiming the Mission: A Journey of Miraculous
Expectation," the convention focused on reaching the lost for Christ.

	Beginning with a look at statistical information on the
"unchurched" in the Ohio District and the declining LCMS membership,
convention attendees took part in three Bible studies focusing on
"urgency," "visioning" and "core leadership" in mission outreach.

	Delegates endorsed the continuation of the facilitator staff
model begun three years ago, and they authorized a major revision of its
bylaws, to be reported back to the next convention.

	They also asked the district's board of directors to begin a
restructuring process during the next triennium.
