PC(USA) administrative staffers gather in Florida

Fourteen members are newly certified

LOUISVILLE - More than 90 administrative staff from congregations, middle
governing body offices and the General Assembly gathered in Sarasota, FL,
July 18-20 for the annual conference of the Presbyterian Church (USA)
Administrative Personnel Association (APA).

APA's goal is to provide educational, training and networking events -
working with presbyteries, synods and ten regional councils - to assist
administrative staff to become more professional in their work and thus
further the work of the entire denomination. The newest APA regional council
- the Greater Midwest Region) - was chartered here.

This year, workshops covered a wide spectrum of topics, such as
communications and problem solving, spiritual growth, an overview of the
denomination's Directory for Worship, theology, stewardship and capital funds
campaigns, and courses on the church's benefits plans led by PC(USA) Board of
Pensions representatives.

At a July 19 banquet, 14 members were honored for having completed APA
certification at various expertise levels in the past year.
