Notes about people

by Jerry L. Van Marter

The Rev. Amy McClain has resigned as associate development director for the
Mission Initiative: Joining Hearts & Hands.

She is the second key staff member in recent months to leave the five-year,
$40 million campaign to raise funds for overseas missionaries and new church
development and church redevelopment in this country, particularly racial
ethnic and immigrant churches. Ron Lundeen, the campaign director, resigned
last month, to take a faculty and development position at Hartford Seminary.

With Lundeen's departure, the travel demands on McClain jumped from 30% to an
estimated 90% of her time. "I am not able to do this," she told colleagues at
the Presbyterian Center, expressing regret that she couldn't stay with the
campaign.

McClain's last day was Oct. 6.
