NEW CHURCH MINISTRY ENDS 2003 THREE YEARS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
With the addition of 82 new church starts in 2003, New Church Ministry
reports an outstanding growth rate of 2.16%. "We had hoped we could achieve
a 2% growth rate by 2006. We are thankful for this great work that God is
doing in our Church," comments Rick Morse, Lead Minister for New Church
Ministry. The goal for new churches in 2003 was 1% - or 38 churches.
A major goal of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 2020 Vision is
to start 1,000 new churches by 2020. Morse estimates that these 82 new
churches represent anywhere from 8,500 to 11,000 new Disciples all over the
country. "You have to go back almost 100 years to see this kind of growth
in Disciples congregations," he says. For the complete story from New
Church Ministry, go to: http://www.newchurchministry.org/news/newsletter.asp
