The statistics on membership are based on information received from the LWF
member churches, the recognized council and recognized congregations, as well
as from other Lutheran churches, organizations, mission bodies and
congregations. The figures recorded for the year ending 2001 were used for
churches that did not indicate any change in statistics by the end of January
