ABCUSA: National Ministries Names Development Coordinator and Publicist

American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 2/19/04)--Tia McCoun of
Lansdale, Pa., has joined American Baptist National Ministries' staff as
development coordinator and publicist, effective Feb. 1. 

As a member of the office of the Executive Director, McCoun will interact
with multiple teams within National Ministries. She will work with the
development team to increase donations and revenue streams, to establish
ministry partners with outside organizations and to establish strategies that
will strengthen relationships with congregations, regions, foundations and
American Baptist organizations. Also, she will serve as publicist to promote
Judson Press and its authors.

In making the announcement the Rev. Marilyn P. Turner, special assistant to
National Ministries' Executive Director Dr. Aidsand F. Wright-Riggins III in
the area of Mission Effectiveness, said, "Tia McCoun's addition to the staff
of National Ministries will certainly enrich our ability to widen existing
communications channels and enable us to collectively promote our programs
and ministries. We feel blessed by Tia's presence and anticipate a rich
harvest of good things resulting from the release of her strategic thinking
and energy." 

Prior to her appointment to National Ministries, McCoun-as owner of Executive
Advocates-provided sales, marketing and communications services to clients
such as authors, publishers, colleges, foundations, faith-based organizations
and small businesses for more than a decade. McCoun's professional experience
also includes appointments at Eastern College, St. Davids, Pa., as assistant
director of enrollment at the School of Professional Studies and as graduate
admissions representative for business programs in the School of
International Leadership Development and the School for Social Change. She
served Gloria Dei Church in Huntington Valley, Pa., as associate director of
youth ministry.

McCoun holds a master of divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary,
Princeton, N.J., and a bachelor's degree in sociology from Lafayette College,
Easton, Pa.
