New site to focus on what works

Target audience of Web resource is middle governing bodies

by Sharon Youngs,
Office of the General Assembly

LOUISVILLE - A new Web site was launched today that is designed specifically
for middle governing bodies of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

"MGB Connect" (www.pcusa.org/mgbconnect) offers an A-to-Z listing of models
and practices that middle governing bodies (MGB)- synods and presbyteries -
have found useful in their work and ministries.

Visitors also will find information on such topics as stewardship,
congregational life, clergy, governance, preparation for ministry, and much
more.

"Every elected member of a presbytery or synod committee and all middle
governing body staff will want to have 'MGB Connect' on their computers as a
preferred site," said Gary Torrens, the PC(USA)'s coordinator for MGB
relations. "This new site provides resources for much of what folks are doing
- or want to do - in presbyteries and synods. Hopefully it will make their
work easier."

Angela Lucear, a senior administrative assistant in Torrens' office who will
manage the site, said it will specialize in program models and policies
successfully employed by presbyteries, synods and General Assembly entities.

To find out more about the site and how to submit materials, contact Lucear
by telephone at (888) 728-7228, ext. 5428, or by email at
