IN SEARCH OF DUE PROCESS: GUANTANAMO FAMILIES 
VISIT THE UNITED STATES MARCH 8-10

National Council of Churches Media Advisory: 
Events March 8-9 (D.C.), March 10 (New York)

European families of Guantanamo detainees along with prominent members of the
British religious, political and arts communities will spend March 8-9 in
Washington, D.C., and March 10 in New York to seek due process rights for the
detainees.  They will be accompanied by Vanessa and Corin Redgrave,
co-founders of the Guantanamo Human Rights Commission. U.S. hosts are the
American Civil Liberties Union, Center for Constitutional Rights and National
Council of Churches USA.

March 8, Washington, D.C.

10 a.m. - News conference with detainees' families and U.S. faith leaders,
U.S. Supreme Court steps (rain location, 110 Maryland Ave. N.E.).  Hosted by
the National Council of Churches USA.  Among speakers: NCC General Secretary
Robert Edgar; Amnesty International USA Executive Director William Schulz;
Terry Waite, past adviser to the Archbishop of Canterbury and former Beirut
hostage (detained for over 1,700 days by Hezbollah).  Media Contact:

2 p.m. - Families walk from J.W. Marriott, 1331 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., to
the White House to deliver letters to the First Family urging due process for

6 p.m. - Guantanamo Due Process Interfaith Prayer/Reflection Service, New
York Avenue Presbyterian Church, 1313 New York Ave. N.W.  Sponsors: NCC,

Human Rights Commission.  With a host of religious and political leaders and

12:30 p.m. - National Press Club "Newsmaker" Luncheon, 529 14th St., N.W. 
Keynote: Anthony Romero, Executive Director, ACLU, on Guantanamo Bay and

detainees' families and U.S. veterans follows at 2 p.m.  Host: American Civil
