American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 3/12/04)--Dr. Vivian A.
Bull, president of American Baptist-related Linfield College in McMinnville,
Ore., for the past 12 years, has announced her retirement effective June 30,
2005.

"These have been wonderful, exciting and challenging years," she said. "We
have experienced extraordinary growth, with the campus more than doubling in
size. Some of our most exciting changes have come in the academic arena with
the strengthening of the Linfield curriculum. It's been a privilege to work
with a dynamic faculty, talented students and a staff that is dedicated to
Linfield, in a community that displays its commitment to the college
throughout the year."

Previously Bull served in the Department of Economics at Drew University in
Madison, N.J., for more than 30 years. She has been an advisor, consultant
and trustee for a number of institutions of higher
education, for corporations and for a variety of government and
non-government organizations.

In addition, for many years she worked with her husband, Robert, on
archaeological expeditions in Palestine.

Dr. Richard Ice, chair of the Linfield Board of Trustees, commended Bull for
her service: "Dr. Bull has guided Linfield during a period of unprecedented
opportunity and challenge. The college has become stronger during her tenure
in terms of academics, the quality of students and faculty, financial
resources, and reputation and stature. In large measure thanks to her
leadership the college has raised more than $70 million in gifts during the
seven-year capital campaign that will end this June." He noted that the
college also has experienced an extensive expansion of its McMinnville campus
through the acquisition and development of property formerly owned by
Hewlett-Packard.

Linfield College, founded in 1858, is one of 16 colleges and universities
related to American Baptist Churches USA through National Ministries. It
currently enrolls more than 2,000 students at its campuses in McMinnville and
at eight other locations in Oregon and southwest Washington. Linfield
continuously has been ranked among the finest schools of its type by U.S.
News and World Report and other national media.
