Conflict in Congregations Topic of ELCA's Spring 2004 Mosaic
04-060-JB

CHICAGO (ELCA) -- Conflict within congregations -- and how
to deal with it -- is the topic of the Spring 2004 issue of
Mosaic Television, said Timothy Frakes, associate director for
interpretation and Mosaic producer, ELCA Department for
Communication.	The program is now available, he said.
The video features an exclusive interview with the Rev.
Peter Steinke. Steinke is a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod
pastor, author, and president and chief executive officer of
Healthy Congregations, Austin, Texas. He is also a consultant to
the ELCA Office of the Presiding Bishop.
The program profiles Christ the King Lutheran Church,
Durango, Colo., with interviews with several members.
"It includes stories of other congregations that have
encountered conflict and lived to tell about it," Frakes said,
"plus, it features a panel of ELCA pastors who talk about
conflict within the congregation."
Mosaic Television is hosted by Melissa O. Ramirez, associate
director for news, ELCA Department for Communication.
At present Frakes has begun production on the next Mosaic
Television issue, "The Life of Apostle Paul," featuring guest
host Rick Steves. That program will be available June 1, Frakes
said. Steves is a noted television personality who has hosted
programs on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) stations and the
cable Travel Channel, authored guidebooks, and written numerous
articles for newspapers and magazines. Steves is a member of
Trinity Lutheran Church, Lynnwood, Wash.
Mosaic Television is produced and distributed by the ELCA
Department for Communication and is available in VHS and DVD
formats. It is intended for educational use in a variety of
congregational settings including Sunday school classes, adult
forums, youth groups, women's and men's groups, new member
classes, church council meetings, committee meetings and other
organizational meetings.
Mosaic is broadcast Mondays at 10 p.m. Eastern Time on
direct broadcast satellite through Dominion Sky Angel on the
Faith TV Network. Some ELCA colleges and universities carry
Mosaic on local cable channels.
Each issue includes a user's guide with a synopsis of each
segment and discussion questions. Mosaic is issued quarterly.
Annual subscriptions are available through the ELCA Department
for Communication.
