ALLIANCE, DISCIPLES, UCC PARTNERSHIP COUNCIL OFF AND RUNNING
A newly named Partnership Council charged with oversight of the new
ecumenical relationship involving the Alliance of Baptists, the
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the United Church of Christ
met in Washington D.C. in mid-February to establish initial priorities
for the coming two years. Each of the church bodies has four members
named to the Council. For the complete story from the Council on
Christian Unity, go to: http://www.disciples.org/ccu/news/040804.htm

LIFT YOUR SPIRIT: SUPPORT THE PENTECOST SPECIAL OFFERING
The 2004 Pentecost Special Offering, which benefits the New Church
Ministry and each of the 33 regions of the Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ), will be received in most congregations May 23 and 30. If
your church has not yet ordered the "Lift Your Spirit" Celebration
Packet, go to http://www.churchfinancecouncil.org to do so. New items
this year include a CD-ROM filled with stories about new churches and
pastors, and the "Lift Your Spirit" song created by Disciples pastor
Michael Carlson.

Disciples have started more than 200 churches just since 2001. Funds
raised through the Pentecost Special Offering help to provide training,
coaching and support to new church planters; funds to new churches to
pay for items such as Sunday School materials and hymnals; and support
of regions' efforts to start new churches. This special offering, part
of the Disciples Mission Fund, is collected and distributed through the
Church Finance Council.
