American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 4/19/04)--Josi Gonzalez,
coordinator of Information Technology (IT) for International Ministries'
Mission Education, Communication, Events and Technology team, has been named
director of Information Technology effective May 1.

In this expanded role Gonzalez will develop an infrastructure for integrated,
cost-effective communication processes for International Ministries and its
missionaries and constituents. He will coordinate and manage information
systems, including finance, operations and information technology.

Gonzalez joined International Ministries' staff in February 2000 as a member
of the finance team. For the past four years he has served as webmaster,
technology advisor, and IT project manager and developer. A graduate of
Eastern College with a degree in youth ministry and psychology, he also
earned a certificate in computer programming and business logic from the
Chubb Institute. He also previously served as a youth pastor in New Jersey.

"As International Ministries works to fulfill the goals of its Go Global
Strategic Plan, the role of information technology will assume increasing
importance," said the Rev. Hictor Cortez, executive director of International
Ministries. "We believe that improved information systems development will
help us to build closer relationships with local American Baptist
congregations and global partners. These integrated systems will become
crucial as new initiatives such as Missionary Partnership Teams and Networks
gain momentum."
