	Commission sets May 13 deadline
	for comments on proposed hymnal

	May 13 is the deadline for submitting comments about the
material for the proposed new hymnal for the Synod, which is known as
Proposal for the Lutheran Service Book.

	On April 14, the Synods Commission on Worship posted the
proposal on its Web site, worship.lcms.org <http://worship.lcms.org>  .
The same proposal is being mailed this week to all congregations,
rostered church workers and delegates to the 2004 Synod convention.

	Dr. Paul Grime, the commissions executive director, said that
this final period for field testing the proposal is being added since it
contains material not included in earlier field tests.

	While it had been the commissions hope to provide these
additional materials for testing and review at an earlier time, Grime
said, the complexities of the project and various time constraints
prevented this from happening.

	The commission will carefully review these additional comments
before issuing its final proposal to the floor committee of the
synodical convention, Grime said. The commission values the input of
congregations and individuals throughout the Synod and is pleased to see
a continued high level of interest in the preparation of Lutheran
Service Book.

	Comments on the proposal may be submitted at
worship.lcms.org/fieldtest <http://worship.lcms.org/fieldtest>	.

	The floor committees for the Synod convention are scheduled to
meet in St. Louis May 21-24. The convention, also in St. Louis, is set
for July 10-15.
