ABCUSA: Nominations Sought for Mowbray Ecumenical Award

American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 5/4/04)--Nominations
currently are being sought for the Luke Mowbray Ecumenical Award, which is
presented biennially to an American Baptist individual exhibiting a notable
commitment to ecumenical dialog and ministry. 

The next Mowbray Award recipient will be honored at the 2005 Biennial Meeting
of American Baptist Churches USA, to be held July 1-3, 2005 in Denver, Colo.

The award will be based on one of two categories, sustained performance or
special achievement, in which the recipient has made a contribution at the
local, state, regional, national or international level.  The nominator is to
provide documentation on the individual's performance and achievement or (for
special achievement) single outstanding accomplishment in either one event or
over a period of time in furthering the ecumenical cause.  A minimum of three
supporting letters of recommendation testifying to the contribution are to be
received from persons who have been strengthened and assisted by the work of
the nominee.

Nominations for the award will be accepted until Oct. 15, 2004 and should be
