An ecclesiastical response designed to bring an end to the social unrest and
racket that has followed Taiwan's March 20th presidential elections is
scheduled for Pentecost Sunday, May 30th. A "Reconciliation Prayer Meeting"
will be held that day, led by ministers from different church groups with
different styles. This will not be the first occasion for such a gathering.
They will once again call on God to have mercy upon Taiwan and renew this
nation through justice, peace and reconciliation.

The meeting continues a series that began on Easter Sunday and has continued
with a small group gathering from for an hour every evening (Sundays
excepted)
at Chi-nan Presbyterian Church. Participants and leaders come from two
Presbyterian Districts in and around Taipei as well as from the Taiwan
Baptist
Alliance and the Bread of Life Church.

Through prayer and fellowship together these church members set Pentecost
Sunday as their goal. They partnered with the Rev. James Hsia, from the
Chinese Christian Evangelistic Association, who said, "Because the date falls
on a Sunday, we will convene at 2PM at Grace Baptist Church."

But Rev. Hsia warns, "Prayer is a step, but churches must continue to seek
reconciliation and healing and establish new relationships of unity. By
prayer
we trump the racket. We call on God to have mercy and pour out justice, peace
and reconciliation for our nation."
