Constructive meeting at Kanuga

[ACNS] The Lambeth Commission met in plenary session for the second time
between Monday 14 and Friday 18 June at the Kanuga Conference Center,
Hendersonville, North Carolina, by kind invitation of the Center's
President, Dr Albert Gooch. The Commission is grateful for the
hospitality of all the staff at Kanuga, and to those local supporters
who made the Commission's visit possible.

On Tuesday 15 June, the Commission received the Presiding Bishop of the
Episcopal Church (USA), the Most Revd Frank Griswold, accompanied by Mr
David Booth Beers, Chancellor of the Episcopal Church USA, Mrs Barbara
Braver, Assistant to the Presiding Bishop for Communications, the Rt
Revd Charles Jenkins, President of the Presiding Bishop's Council of
Advice, the Very Revd George Werner, President of the House of Deputies,
and the Rt Revd Arthur Williams, former Vice-President of the House of
Bishops, who spoke to the Commission. They also received the Bishop of
Pittsburgh, the Rt Revd R Duncan, as Moderator of the Network of
Anglican Communion Dioceses and Parishes, accompanied by Mr Hugo
Blankingship, Dr Michael Howell, Mrs Diane Knippers, the Revd Canon
Martyn Minns, and Mrs Angela Minns.

The Commission had a constructive meeting, and has moved forward towards
the drafting of their final report. The Commission will hold its third
plenary session in September. A selection of the papers and submissions
considered by the Commission will be published shortly on the
Commission's website. The Commission is continuing to receive
submissions. Those wishing to make a submission are referred to the
