ABCUSA: Jones Appointed Acting Executive Director of International Ministries

American Baptist News Service (Green Lake, Wis. 6/26/04)--The Board of
International
Ministries, meeting here in semiannual session, has appointed the Rev.
Charles H. Jones as
acting executive director, effective immediately.
Jones has served with International Ministries since 1997, most recently as
area director
for North, West and Central Africa. Previously he was area director for
Africa, Europe and
the Middle East. He began with International Ministries as administrative
assistant in the
Overseas Division.
Prior to joining International Ministries Jones was pastor of the First
Baptist Church,
Oldest Congotown, Liberia (1985-1988), director of evangelism for the Liberia
Baptist
Missionary and Educational Convention (1987-1988), and assistant circulation
librarian and
assistant reference librarian at Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, Va.
(1992-1995).
He holds the bachelor of theology degree from Liberia Baptist Theological
Seminary (1981),
the master of divinity degree from the School of Theology of Virginia Union
University,
Richmond, Va. (1990) and the master of arts degree in Christian education
from Presbyterian
School of Christian Education, Richmond, Va. (1992).

God-given
vision expressed in the Go Global Strategic Plan adopted in November 1999,"
said Elizabeth
Burger, president of the Board of International Ministries. "The Board
expresses it
thankfulness for the continued commitment and dedication of all missionaries,
staff and
national partners to the wonderful ministry that God has done and will
continue to do
through International Ministries."
