HISPANIC AND BILINGUAL ASSEMBLY BEGINS VISIONING PROCESS
The 12th Assembly of the National Hispanic and Bilingual Fellowship
(NHBF) in July recently brought together 180 Disciples from around the
country to begin a visioning process that will guide NHBF in years to
come.

Town hall meetings will be held in different parts of the country, with
the final result being a visioning document that will be discussed by
Hispanic and Bilingual congregations at the next biennial assembly. 

In addition to worship services and the visioning process at this
year's assembly, several individuals and one church received
"Somos Uno" awards for outstanding service.  To learn more about

NAPAD CONVOCATION EXPLORES TOPIC OF PEACE
"Living as God's Peacemakers" was the theme that guided more than
160 participants in discussions at the North American Pacific/Asian
Disciples (NAPAD) Convocation held in Chicago July 28-31. Delegates at
the gathering explored the role Christians can play in helping to create
a more peaceful global community.

NAPAD's 2004 agenda included worship services, lectures and panel
discussions that looked at various aspects of peacemaking.  Activities
also included a cultural night, election of new officers, and

WEEK OF COMPASSION RESPONDS TO BANGLADESH FLOODING
The death toll in flood-ravaged Bangladesh has grown to more than 1500
people.  The majority of those affected are farmers, sharecroppers and
agricultural laborers.	Week of Compassion is responding to a call by
Church World Service (CWS) to support the efforts of longtime partners,
Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB).  CCDB is
assisting more than 22,000 families with food, shelter, clothing and
temporary jobs.  Week of Compassion has sent $6000 in support of the CWS

TCU CHANCELLOR EMERITUS DIES AT AGE 88
Dr. James M. Moudy, chancellor emeritus of Texas Christian University,
died earlier this month in Fort Worth, Texas. after a brief illness. 
Moudy, 88, was TCU chancellor from 1965 to 1979.  During his tenure, the
university expanded both its enrollment and its physical plant. Moudy
also was instrumental in advancing graduate education at TUC, and is
credited with establishing six research-oriented doctoral programs at
the university.  He also served as moderator of the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) from 1969 to 1971.

THE PENNSYLVANIA REGIONAL OFFICE IS MOVING
The Pennsylvania Regional Office of the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ) is moving after more than 20 years. Effective August 17, the new
address will be105 Water Street in New Stanton, Pa.  The move allows for
easier access to regional offices. E-mail addresses of staff will remain
the same.  However, the phone number will change to (724) 925-1350.  The
new fax number will be (724) 925-1358.	The office had been based at 670
Rodi Drive in Pittsburg.
