Taiwan Church News 2738, 16-22 August 2004
Reported by Hsiao Shiuh-ching. Translated and Rewritten by David Alexander

One hundred clergy and members of 10 congregations of the Presbyterian Church
in Taiwan traveled to Singapore on August 13th to visit City Harvest Church
in
that nation. While there they participated in the church's 15th anniversary
celebrations. They hoped to learn the manner in which the members of City
Harvest Church enter into service and view a method of small group church
life
first hand.
The Rev. Chui Sin-tian, pastor of Hou-chin Presbyterian Church and head of
the
Tainan Presbytery's Evangelism Committee said that this trip was made
intentionally to see City Harvest Church. No other training events were
scheduled so as not to blur the focus.
He said that the turnout reflects a desire on the part of Taiwanese church
members to see transformation, especially in ministry to young people.	The
committee that planned the trip estimated that as many as 40 would register.
They were surprised by the number who eventually signed up. His own
congregation gave subsidies so that seven of its young people could
participate.
