ABCUSA: Harold Heneise, Former Missionary in Haiti, Dies

American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 10/27/04)--Dr. Harold K.
Heneise, retired American Baptist International Ministries missionary in
Haiti, died Oct. 17 in Penney Farms, Fla.  He was 82.

Appointed by the American Baptist Home Mission Society in 1947, Harold
Heneise and his wife, Ivah, went to Haiti specifically to establish training
for Haitian pastors.  They were instrumental in the development of the
Baptist Theological Seminary in Limbe, where Harold served as its president
and both he and Ivah taught. They became missionaries of the American Baptist
Foreign Mission Society in 1973 when its board assumed responsibility for the
work in Latin America, and served in Haiti until their retirement in 1987.

Ivah Heneise died in 1999.  Harold Heneise is survived by his four children:
Kenneth Heneise; Stephen Heneise, an International Ministries missionary to
Chile; Laurel Casseus; and Pamela Cone.  He also is survived by ten
grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Kenneth Heneise, 408 S.
Highland Ave., Green Cove Springs, FL 32043.  A memorial service will be held
Nov. 14 at Penney Farms.
