Chang Jung Christian University, established as an agency of Christian
mission
in the world of higher education, marked its 11th anniversary with a holiday
on November 16th. A Christian service of thanksgiving was held, opened by a
student led hand bell choir and sacred music. A male quartet including the
university's president and two of its chaplains sang.

Though the university is "young" it has already awarded over 10,000 degrees.
Some of those graduates attended the anniversary events, including the head
of
the board of directors of one of Taiwan's largest passenger bus companies and
the general manager of a technology and software giant. They represent some
of
the fruit of the school's aims and goals.

In the coming year the school will open a department of software design. An
application for permission to open a graduate department of Taiwan studies is
now before the Ministry of Education. If it is granted, students will be
invited to apply for admissionin March and April of 2005. A History museum is
also being designed to aid in Taiwan studies. For the summer of 2005 a
special
conference on Taiwan history and culture will seek to draw overseas Taiwanese
young people back to the motherland for some exposure to their roots, and
perhaps attract a few of them to enroll for their university education at
Chang Jung Christian University.
