American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 12/20/04)--Richard B.
Fisher, who over a period of 35 years served The Ministers and Missionaries
Benefit Board (MMBB) as a member of the Board of Managers, Finance Committee
and Finance Committee chair, died Dec. 16. The cause of death was cancer.
He was 68.

Fisher became a member of MMBB's board in 1963 and was appointed to the
Finance Committee the following year. He served as chair of the Finance
Committee from 1974 to 1992. During that time MMBB's total assets rose from
$125 million to over $1 billion. When Fisher left the board in 1989 he was
appointed a lifetime honorary manager.

A graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, Fisher
went to work at Morgan Stanley & Co. the same year he became an MMBB board
member. During Fisher's tenure with Morgan Stanley he rose to become a
partner, president, chief executive officer and chairman emeritus.

Commenting on Fisher's contribution to the board, Executive Director Dr.
Sumner Grant said, "MMBB and its pre-retired and retired members are
fortunate to have had a man of Fisher's character, business expertise and
financial acumen to lead the Finance Committee for so many years-and on a
voluntary basis."

Fisher is survived by his wife, a brother and three children. He was a
member of Judson Memorial Church in New York City. A memorial service is
pending.

The Richard B. Fisher Memorial Fund has been established by MMBB.
