LWF Vice-President Cortez Installed Bishop of Nicaraguan Lutheran Church

Rev. Victoria Cortez Rodrmguez was installed as Bishop of the Nicaraguan
Lutheran Church of Faith and Hope on December 5. Prior to the installation
ceremony in the Lutheran Church of Faith and Hope in Managua, the church's
synod had decided to change the top leadership of the church from the
position of president to bishop. The Salvadoran Lutheran Synod (SLS) Bishop,
Medardo E. Gomiz Soto, presided over the ceremony assisted by Rev. J.
Guillermo Flores, president of the Christian Lutheran Church of Honduras.
Since July 2003, Cortez is LWF Vice-President for the Latin America and
Caribbean region. The Nicaraguan church has 4,000 members, and joined the LWF
in 1994. (117 words)
