American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 4/19/05)--In response
to feedback that the numerous separate databases maintained at the
American Baptist Churches Mission Center do not serve the people in the
pew as effectively as they could, a concerted effort is underway to
improve the system to provide better constituent service and decision
support.

A staff task group representing the various programmatic organizations
and the Office of the General Secretary is working to increase
efficiency and effectiveness, and to make it possible for a single
address change from an American Baptist to update all of the current
lists.

The group is seeking input widely from all who will be affected so that
expectations can be met. The group is assuming that some very basic
data such as name and address will be available throughout the Mission
Center, while more sensitive information would be available only with a
password or other security processes.

Watch the American Baptist Churches USA Web site---www.abc-usa.org--for
a survey to be released around May 1, so that you can register your
responses to the task forces' questions.
